Eco Wedding

Help the planet whilst you tie the knot.

If having a wonderful and memorable wedding day includes taking care of the environment then you are in the right place, as its top of our list as well.

From the beginning in 1999 when we converted the barn; using traditional lime plaster and local oak flooring to the choice of local suppliers and sustainable products we use today, the impact our business has not only on the wider environment, but our local community, has been key to the evolution of our wedding venue.

Surrounding our venue are organically managed gardens with wonderful mature trees providing a home to Tawny Owls, Long eared Bats and the rare Turtle Doves. We have a productive kitchen garden, orchard and poly tunnel growing; fruit, salads, herbs and vegetables, eggs from our very free range hens and then beyond are our ancient organic meadows where we graze our cattle and sheep providing wonderful home grown beef and lamb.

We stock plenty of local beers in our bar, including Adnams and St Peters plus Aspall Cider and James White Apple juices and can source organic wines, beers and spirits from other local breweries. If you not sure what's on offer locally a tasting session is always an option. Our local Microbrewery in St Cross are happy to put personalised labels on the bottles for your day. If you need a few gifts to say thank you to your friends and family for helping you with your wedding day then choosing a local bottled beer or buying present from local craft people helps support the local economy and the gifts are original.

Behind the scenes we use 100% Ecover commercial cleaning products, biodegradable bin liners, recycled loo paper and energy efficient light bulbs as well as recycling, paper, cans, plastic and glass we also turn our kitchen and cardboard waste into compost.

Each year part of our income from weddings goes towards conservation projects on the farm creating new woodlands and hedges, restoring ponds, planting wildflowers for bees and butterflies and building bird, bat and owl boxes.

Going green doesn't mean you have to cut back on style or bust your budget.

Our local florist will happily source you in season UK grown flowers from Bluebells and cow parsley in the spring, Scented English tea roses and Sweet peas in Summer to Autumn jasmine and winter berries, holly, ivy and mistletoe to create a wonderful table centre piece or bridal bouquet. You could always grow your own or ask your friends, family and local allotment holders to all get involved and for a price of a few seeds create something totally original.

Dried flower petals and recycled paper confetti can all be homemade or sourced locally, for place cards handmade sustainable paper or pebbles from the beach look fantastic and you can take the pebbles back afterwards and a simple black board instead of printed orders of service all reduce your carbon foot print.

Don't forget you can source vintage and pre loved wedding and brides maids dresses plus rings and jewellery from safe sustainable sources.

The options are endless plus everything you create, make and do yourselves makes its truly your day and totally unique.
